For the second year in a row, Marine Log has acknowledged the Top Women in Maritime. Angela Chao was selected by publication for her distinguished efforts in the maritime industry as CEO and Chair of Foremost Group, an American shipping company based in New York. The company has a global reputation due to its high standards and commitment to extraordinary service. Ms. Chao is listed next to a diverse group of prominent female leaders covering all aspects of the industry, from shoreside logistics to onboard management.
Industry Success and Gender Diversity
While receiving the Top 20 accolade, Ms. Chao was asked what successes she is most proud of throughout her maritime career. She first gave credit to her Foremost Group team and the outstanding service, integrity, and performance the modern and eco-friendly fleet continues to deliver.
She expressed how proud she was that Foremost Group keeps gender diversity and equality at the heart of the organization. As roughly half of the onshore staff at Foremost Group are women, Ms. Chao believes that the best solutions come from this diversity of perspectives and backgrounds. This mindset further plays into delivering the best way forward for Foremost Groups partners.
Lastly, Ms. Chao acknowledged and honored her family lineage as career success. She stated, “It is deeply humbling and most gratifying to serve as the second generation carrying on my parents’ legacy and life values.”
