Angela Chao Funds a New Scholarship Fund at Harvard College

The Ruth Mulan Chu and James Si-Cheng Chao Family Undergraduate Scholarship Fund has been created at Harvard College

Through a generous donation from Angela Chao, Deputy Chair of Foremost Group, more qualified undergraduate students will be able to pursue their higher education at Harvard College.The scholarship is a continuation of the Chao family’s commitment to providing access to high quality education for eligible students who are unable to afford it.

Angela Chao has created this scholarship in the names of her parents as a testament to their life-long devotion to education. Her parents, Dr. James S.C. Chao and Ruth Mulan Chu Chao believed in the transformative power of education. Further, her parents’ commitment to strengthening East-West relations through education, inspired them to fund many facilities and scholarship initiatives in America and China, all designed to bring as many gifted and qualified students as possible into the arena of higher education.

Angela Chao is one of four Chao daughters who attended Harvard Business School, and the only one who attended Harvard College. It was natural for Angela to bring this scholarship fund to the educational institution where she obtained her undergraduate BA and graduate MBA degrees. She knows very well the difference education at such a high-quality institution can make in one’s life, and in her desire to be a good ambassador for her parents’ name and legacy she has created the Ruth Mulan Chu and James Si-Cheng Chao Family Undergraduate Scholarship Fund.
